There are two international Jamaica airports. Norman Manley International Airport is located in the Kingston capital region. The other of the major Jamaica airports is Donald Sangster International Airport which can be found on the western coast by Montego Bay. Most international carriers fly directly into one of the two Jamaica airports. American Airlines, Air Canada, and Continental Airlines are examples of carriers who fly to both Jamaica airports. Some carriers, like British Airways, will only land in one or the other of the Jamaica airports. Non-stop flights from cities in the United States take on average no longer than six hours to reach Jamaica airports, while flights from Europe average over ten hours with stops before reaching either Jamaica airport.

Transfer to the city: An airport bus service and local bus service connect to the centre of Kingston with a journey time of between half an hour to an hour. Taxis are available. Car rental: Car rental companies Hertz, Budget and Avis are all represented at the airport. Facilities: The airport facilities include a Bureaux de change which is open until the last flight of the day and a duty-free shop (in the transit lounge) open from 6am until the last flight.There is a bar and a restaurant open from 6.30am, a newsagent and gift/souvenir shop. Jamaica Airport Transfers
As a Villas Caribe client, we will have pre-arranged for your transfers from Jamaica airports so that you are met just past the customs hall and escorted to your villa in a private vehicle (additional fees apply). Guests can expect the drive from the Montego Bay Airport to villas in the Montego Bay area to take approximately 10-30 minutes, 1.5 hour to villas in the Discovery/Runaway Bay area and 2 hours to the villas in Ocho Rios. We recommend our excellent drivers and their air-conditioned vans. For a villa in the Montego Bay area, airport transfers will cost $70 or $80 round trip; for Discovery Bay $130; Ocho Rios $200 and Good Hope Plantation $100.

Since the driving on Jamaica is so difficult between poor quality roads and overly ambitious drivers, we recommend that our clients not rent private vehicles but instead let us arrange for them to have a private driver along with a private 10-12 seater air-conditioned van. The private drivers are experienced with the Jamaican roads and are knowledgeable on the tourist attractions and local history. Indeed, approximately 99% of our clients take advantage of the van and driver package. The rate of $775/wk. for the van and driver includes one tank of gasoline and airport transfers, so it truly works out to be a better value for our clients than renting their own vehicles.
